Kenosha, Wisconsin, officers shot Blake, 29, multiple times on Sunday, as he opened the door of a parked car. He was transported to a local hospital in serious condition and video of the shooting went viral, prompting protests and clashes between demonstrators and officers. The Wisconsin Department of Justice opened an investigation into the shooting and Governor Tony Evers condemned the officers’ actions. Evers noted Blake wasn’t the first Black man or person to be shot or “mercilessly killed” by law enforcement and said he stands with those demanding justice....

Critics accuse Renaud of deploying police in the wrong area of the city during the May 31 protests related to the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in the custody of Minneapolis Police. The largest Change.org petition for recurring stimulus checks—created by Denver restaurant owner Stephanie Bonin—asks the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to pass a bill that would provide monthly “$2,000 payments for adults and $1,000 payments for kids” until the pandemic ends. The petition has gained more than 2,935,731 signatures as of Saturday, with about 48,731 new supporters in the past month....

The move comes after Pfizer announced a plan to quadruple the cost of its own COVID-19 vaccine to the same price range, citing weaker demand while it maintained cheaper contracts with developing nations....

William Schaffner, MD, medical director of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, tells Verywell that the FDA full approval process is more rigorous compared to an EUA. “It involves reviewing all of the data regarding the effectiveness of the vaccine, its safety, many aspects of its manufacturing process, including inspections of the facilities, where it’s manufactured, and also some longer-term data on safety,” Schaffner says....
