The analysis, which was part of the CDC’s Vital Signs report, found an association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the development of mental health issues, chronic diseases and a predisposition to drug addiction. ACEs can refer to a variety of events that a child can undergo, but which all can have lasting impacts. They include “all types of abuse and neglect as well as parental mental illness, substance use, divorce, incarceration, and domestic violence,” according to the United States Department of Health and Human Services....

Among the nearly 150,000 people diagnosed with colorectal cancers each year, Lynch syndrome is associated with about 4,000 cases. People with Lynch syndrome can also have an increased risk of developing other cancers, including cancers of the rectum, stomach, small intestine, liver, gallbladder ducts, upper urinary tract, brain, skin, prostate, uterus (endometrium), and ovaries....

Stanley will also be placed on the state sex offender registry, as prosecutors argued that the restraint was sexually motivated, the Detroit Free Press reported. Father Andres Arango, who most recently served in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona, was found to have used the wrong phrasing. When performing the sacrament, Arango would say, “We baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” However, as the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith made the diocese aware, the use of the word “we” made the baptisms “invalid....

Don Coram, a GOP state senator from Colorado’s western slope, will appear on the June primary ballot after election officials announced Tuesday he had gathered enough valid signatures. His qualification sets up a heated primary race that Coram says he’ll use to highlight controversies that have surrounded Boebert and what he calls the first-term representative’s lack of results. Coram’s campaign told Newsweek in a statement Tuesday that Boebert is more interested in being “a right-wing celebrity pundit rather than a representative of the people she is paid to represent....

Omid Scobie, co-author of the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle biography Finding Freedom, has written in a column for Yahoo! Virginia Giuffre filed a civil lawsuit against the Duke of York saying she was made to have sex with him by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell when she was 17 and he was 41, in 2001. The prince’s lawyers want the lawsuit thrown out and attempted to heap pressure on his accuser by arguing she was of the legal age of consent at the time of the allegation. Giuffre’s own court filings describe her as a child....

The two high-profile men have both been accused of sexual abuse by Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre says she was 17 and an Epstein slave when the Duke of York allegedly raped her in New York, London and the U.S. Virgin Islands. However, she dropped similar allegations against Dershowitz over a past settlement she signed after suing Epstein in the civil courts in Florida in 2009. There is no suggestion the sealed agreement undermines the factual allegations Giuffre has made, however, it was intended to rule out further lawsuits against other people connected to Epstein....
