Sobanski, the 46-year-old descendant of one of Poland’s aristocratic families, is charged with crimes related to a property worth $11 million. An Associated Press report said that he acted as an “intermediary” for his “clients” in exchange for a “commission.” Prosecutors in Wroclaw allege that he used false documents or testimony when going through Poland’s restitution process to reclaim properties the Communists seized after nationalizing aristocratic families’ real estate....

The man, who was not identified, allegedly broke into a church in the Brea area near Anaheim in the early hours of Tuesday before his arrest. A photo of the man shows him sleeping in the suit without his shoes on and the accompanying words from Brea Police Department described him as drunk. “Dear Santa, I’m sorry I stole your red suit,” the Department wrote on Facebook and Twitter....

In New Plymouth, a city located about 50 miles northwest of Boise, authorities say they were called at about 5 p.m. on Saturday by a family who said their child had been left in the car and was unresponsive. Emergency responders took the child to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. She was less than a year old. The cause of death is still under investigation by the Payette County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho State Police....

UPDATE: Jones pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of rape and sodomy after surrendering to police, according to media reports. Louisville TV station WAVE-TV said Jones was one of three people accused in the rape case. The station also reported Jones threatened to assault a woman with whom he had an occasion relationship. The incidents involved allegations of rape of one woman and sodomy of another, according to USA Today....

Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, with many on Twitter and Facebook suggesting that the man was targeted by a white police officer because he was back. According to BART officials, it is illegal under California state law to eat while within the transit system’s facilities. However, in the video the detained man—Steve Foster—and other bystanders point out to the arresting officer that passengers eat at the station all the time....

The incident occurred when two officers who were conducting a security check at the campground in Anchorage’s Centennial Park on Wednesday evening encountered a man they suspected of earlier eluding police, the Anchorage Police Department (APD) said in a news release. “At some point during the encounter, the suspect produced a handgun and gunfire was exchanged,” police said. One officer sustained serious injuries, while another officer was unharmed, according to police....

According to a police report released Thursday, an engaged couple got into an argument at the home on May 25 during which the woman grabbed the man’s gun and held it at her side.
