Phones Too Much Data

The latest phones are dubbed 3.5G because they come between the current third generation and the fourth generation not due out for several years. They’re touted as giving mobile users an experience that’s closer to the kind of bandwidth–3 million bits per second–that they’re accustomed to on landline data connections. By contrast, current 3G technology delivers less than 1 million bits per second–not even enough to send and receive e-mail files with any efficiency....

Photo Of Raccoon Riding Alligator Isn T Sports So We Made It Sports

Of course this happened in Florida at the Ocala National Forest. You know, Florida, where normal happens. Anyway, the teamwork, companionship and innovation of these two species joining together for a common goal (or a clever raccoon hitching a free ride) inspired us. MORE: ‘Yes’ to a real Jurassic Park, ’no’ to Olympics, FIFA | Best photos of the week (Source: WPTV) Seeing as this fantastic photograph has absolutely nothing to do with sports, we had to find a way to make it about sports....

Picasso No. 1 With A Palette

Picasso stayed news for the rest of the 20th century and into this one. Which prompts the question: Why? Why has Picasso—with his endless variations on disjointed and unpretty cubism—become the quintessential modern artist? Why isn’t it Henri Matisse, whose brightly colored fauvist pictures shocked viewers years before cubism came along, and who was still producing remarkable work on his deathbed in 1954? Why not Marcel Duchamp, the chess champ who cut right to the end-game of modern art with his “readymade” bottle rack way back in 1914 and set the standard in modern-art ballsiness by submitting a urinal to an important sculpture exhibition three years later?...

Picking The Sex Of A Baby One Step Closer As Scientists Separate X And Y Chromosome Carrying Sperm The Implications Would Be Colossal

Sperm carry either an X or Y chromosome, which helps to determine the sex of offspring in most mammals. In general, X and Y-carrying sperm are swimming about in semen in equal numbers, which explains why the human population, for instance, is made up of more or less equal numbers of males and females. But as both X and Y-carrying sperm share the same proteins so the fetus can develop normally, there are no known markers which differentiate between the two....
