The Memphis Police Department (MPD) identified 31-year-old Travis Pride as the off-duty officer who was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping a woman after she requested a Lyft ride to Parkway Village in Memphis. Police said they were notified that a Lyft driver picked up the woman in the 5100 block of Cottonwood and drove her to the 6400 block of Ridgebrook Lane, where the assault allegedly happened. According to an affidavit obtained by the Daily Memphian, the woman told police that she ended up at an apartment off of Sycamore View in Northeast Memphis after being picked up by Pride....

On Monday, the Roxboro Police Department posted an announcement about the prank on Facebook. “We are warning those who are playing the ‘Gun Prank War’ that pointing what appears to be a gun at someone is a crime and can result in arrest,” the department wrote. In recent days, officers have learned of several incidents in which “young people” in vehicles have reportedly been pointing what look like guns at passing drivers....

In a statement on Facebook, the Newport Police Department said that officers responded to a report of a car break-in. When they arrived, the owner of the vehicle reported that $1 million in “fake prop/movie money” was among the items that were stolen. “The prop/movie money was in $10, $20 and $100 denominations. Although the ‘money’ is clearly marked ‘For Motion Picture Use Only’ and ‘Copy’, the prop/movie money is very similar to real US currency and similar prop/movie money has created issues for local businesses in the past,” the department stated....
