They recovered propane tanks, torches and possible dynamite sticks from the van at Logan Circle in Center City, WPVI reported. The bomb squad has launched an investigation, the station reported. It was not immediately clear if any arrests had been made. The Philadelphia Police Department has been contacted for comment. Police fatally shot 27-year-old Walter Wallace Jr. in the 6100 block of Locust Street in the Cobb Creek neighborhood on Monday afternoon....

Makira Williams was due to have her baby on July 21, but instead gave birth on June 26 on the Route 55 bus. It was about 9 a.m. when Williams suddenly went into labor, she told WPVI. When the bus driver realized what was happening, the vehicle pulled over. Williams said it took just two pushes to give birth to baby Mazir. He was born weighing 5 pounds and 12 ounces, and both Williams and Mazir are doing well after the baby’s unusual entrance into the world....

Just one night after Rhame nearly hit Hoskins twice, the Phillies outfielder took advantage of a two-run homer in the ninth as the Phillies shut out the Mets, 6-0. Hoskins took his time as he “ran” the bases, clocking a 34.2-second home run trot. The Phillies announced Monday they have outrighted the outfielder off their 40-man roster, cutting ties with a player who was once named the top prospect in all of baseball and later made an All-Star Game but never quite seemed able to live up to expectations. The asteroid, called 2022 AC4, flew past at 12:19 a.m. ET on January 11, coming within just 58,000 miles of Earth. This may sound like a large distance compared to daily distances traveled by humans, but in fact it’s less than one quarter of the distance to the moon. According to NASA data, 2022 AC4 was the closest asteroid that passed by Earth for at least two months. At its closest point to us, 2022 AC4 was traveling at over 18,700 miles per hour....

Pierre Le Guennec, 80, and his wife Danielle, 76, claimed the works were a gift. The electrician worked for Picasso in the 1970s, doing odd jobs at the artist’s villa in Mougins. In 2010, Le Guennec traveled to Paris to ask Claude Picasso to authenticate the artwork. The son of the artist, who manages the Picasso Administration, deemed the work legitimate but suspected they were stolen. Three days later, police confiscated the collection....
