The arresting officer initially did not notice the presence of the young boy. After the officer placed the woman, identified as Claudia Patterson, in his squad car, he then discovered the 2-year-old in the backseat of the truck. The young boy was undetected at first because Patterson’s truck was reportedly in a state of disarray with items covering up the child. Patterson was initially pulled over after she was observed driving recklessly in traffic at Sycamore View and Raleigh Lagrange in Memphis, according to the police report....
Riverside Police Department officers charged Andres Pena Meneses, 31, with grand theft and theft by false pretense after he posed as a fortune teller in Riverside. Detectives with the department’s economic crimes unit launched an investigation into an apparent “fortune teller” business in the 2500 block of Arlington Avenue after a woman attended to have her fortune read. The victim described the fortune-teller as a Colombian national who went by “Carlos” and convinced her she had to pay hundreds of dollars to remove parasites from her body....
Bullhead City Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt confirmed to Newsweek that the incident, which happened at about 7:20 p.m., is being investigated as “aggravated assault and criminal damage” but said it is not believed to have been a shooting, contrary to other reports. Shocked and saddened by the crime, the Dunn County Humane Society shared the press release describing the horrific incident to their Facebook page. Details about the situation have emerged recently due to the officer, Chad Vorce, appealing his termination. The incident in the video occurred in DeWitt, Michigan, in January, and he was terminated by the DeWitt Police Department the following May. In a study published in Science Advances, a team of political scientists analyzed over 30,000 tweets from members of the U.S. Congress.
