According to a study published in the pre-print website bioRxiv, a team of Israeli scientists recorded tomato and tobacco plants producing sound frequencies which humans cannot hear in stressful situations—such as when they experienced a lack of water or their stems were cut. The team identified the sounds with microphones placed around 10 centimeters (around four inches) away from the plants, although the scientists say the noises could potentially be heard several feet away by some mammals and insects, such as mice and moths....

Saddam, however, has proved to be a most uncooperative host. He repeatedly has balked at opening up his secret bases to the U.N. inspectors, acquiescing only after the Bush administration rattled its saber. Last week Saddam was at it again, refusing to allow U.N. helicopters to roam unrestricted over western Iraq to look for stashes of “unconventional weapons.” Suddenly the headlines were full of threats and war rumors. According to the official Pokémon Go blog, starting November 1 players will be able to find Regirock, Regice and Registeel in Raids. Pokémon that are strong against these Legendaries will spawn more frequently in the wild. The blog names Geodude, Spheal, Aron, Magnemite and Swinub specifically as examples of types of Pokémon that will spawn more often. Trainers will also find Aerodactyl, Shuckle, Sneasel, Skarmory, Snorunt and Beldum hatching more often from eggs....

“Russia is indeed terrorizing Ukraine,” he said during a press conference before leaving to meet with European Union leaders in Brussels, Belgium. The predator had been wandering on the roof in St Anthony without homeowner Bobbi Stevens noticing, CBC reported. However, when she finally opened the door she got a fright. Stevens’s dog alerted her to the bear after it had climbed down from her roof. The dog jumped up on her as if there was somebody at the door. “I opened the top part of the door and looked out, and when I looked up on the bank above my steps this polar bear was looking me in the face,” she told CBC....

Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren filed 30 felony charges against 17-year-old Graham Clark on Friday “for scamming people across America” in a social media hack that occurred on July 15. After a nationwide investigation from the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice, Clark was located in Tampa, where he was arrested on Friday. Records from the Hillsborough County Jail show he was booked shortly after 6:30 a.m. The hack targeted a slew of celebrities, politicans and business tycoons, including former President Barack Obama, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Kanye West, Mike Bloomberg and more....
