Women’s rights activists are worried the Polish government is creating a new database that will track whether pregnancies end in a birth of a child or not. They believe the database could be used as a potential tool for prosecutions. The health minister denied the accusation of a pregnancy database, saying the government is only shifting files from paper to digital form. However, a proposal will be announced in parliament this week to create a “Family and Demographic Institute” that would, in theory, increase Poland’s birthrate by restricting divorces....

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Friday that Warsaw would make a formal submission to send a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine at the next NATO summit, Reuters reported. Morawiecki had visited Kyiv on Tuesday along with Poland’s ruling party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The mother—who had been in the late stage of her pregnancy—gave birth alone in her prison cell at HMP Bronzefield in Ashford, England, in the early hours of September 27, The Guardian reported. On Sunday, several people filming a video for the educational site Just Keep Thinking spotted the lizard and alerted a pair of nearby police officers to its plight, according to Asia One. “[We] tried to alert drivers to make sure they avoid the lizard. The latest ABC News/Ipsos poll, conducted between July 23-24 and released Sunday, showed Biden’s gun violence approval rating under water, with 37 percent approving and 61 percent disapproving. The findings marked a slump in the president’s approval rating on gun violence compared to the same survey conducted between March 26-27, which showed 42 percent approving and 57 percent disapproving. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday pledged to address the surge in gun violence in Chicago, New York, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco with a crack down on gun trafficking and additional funding for neighborhood intervention programs....

The Quinnipiac University poll, which was conducted between May 14 and 18 among 1,323 registered voters, asked respondents whether they would support Trump or presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden if the 2020 presidential election were held at the time of the poll. Respondents were also asked to gauge their opinions on topics that have been relevant in the general election conversation thus far, including the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic and both candidates’ favorability ratings....

Why the divergence? One reason is the margin of error, which can skew each candidate’s percentage as much as four points either way.
