The 2022 PGA Championship is underway, as the PGA Tour converges on the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Among the golfers vying for the title will be Tiger Woods, who is looking for a chance to tie Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen for the record with five wins in the tournament. He last won the event in 2007, the last time it was held at Southern Hills.

Not among those competing in 2022 is Phil Mickelson, who won the 2021 PGA Championship. He continues his hiatus from the golf world after controversial comments made back in February.

Scottie Scheffler, who leads the FedExCup standings, and Jon Rahm were favored to win the tournament when it began, but Rory McIlroy ended Round 1 of the tournament as the leader. He shot a 5-under 65 while Will Zalatoris and Tom Hoge were one shot off the lead at 4-under par. That trio will look to continue its success in Round 2.
