The current affairs show will air in the U.K., U.S. and Australia in what is a global deal with News Corp and Fox News Media.
Morgan, who left his job hosting Good Morning Britain earlier this year said he is “thrilled” with the new opportunity.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to News Corp. which is where I began my media career more than 30 years ago. Rupert Murdoch has been a constant and fearless champion of free speech and we are going to be building something new and very exciting together,” he said in a statement per News UK.
“I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged.”
Morgan confirmed that he is also going to becoming a columnist for The Sun and the New York Post, which he called “two brilliantly successful and popular newspaper brands.”
Morgan added: “I’m going home and we’re going to have some fun.”
Victoria Newton, Editor in Chief, The Sun, has called Morgan’s new role “the biggest comeback of the year.”
TalkTV will be streamed live and be made available via on-demand platforms when it launches in 2022.
News UK already owns a number of outlets in the U.K., such as The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun, talkRADIO, talkSPORT, Virgin Radio and Times Radio.
In a press release, Murdoch described Morgan as “the broadcaster every channel wants but is too afraid to hire. Piers is a brilliant presenter, a talented journalist and says what people are thinking and feeling.”
While NewsUK’s Rebekah Brooks, who Morgan famously worked at the News of the World, has said that Morgan will be a “brilliant primetime draw” for the new program.
Morgan is also confirmed to be writing a follow-up to his 2020 book Wake Up for the publisher HarperCollins.
Meanwhile, Fox News Media has also praised hiring Morgan as the face of the new venture, with CEO Suzanne Scott calling him an “exceptional talent.”
“We look forward to him making an impact and exploring opportunities with him on all of our platforms, especially FOX Nation, where our subscribers will love his new show tackling the subjects everyone is talking about,” she said.
