It was edge-of-the-sofa stuff for two sets of fans on Tuesday night as Basel visited the French capital in the hope of stopping the PSG juggernaut.
The expectant locals were in fine voice prior to what they hoped would be a routine win at the Parc des Princes.
But so were their visitors ahead of a historic night which would mark the first ever meeting between the two sides.
The first goal was always going to be massive and Basel held firm as the host pushed for the opener…
But the pressure proved too much.
And Angel Di Maria fired in the first goal of the game five minutes before the break to set PSG on its way to an ultimately comfortable 3-0 win..
