The Pirates placed the 27-year-old Harrison on the 15-day DL Monday.

Harrison, who made his first All-Star team last year and finished ninth in the NL MVP balloting, has a slash line of .279/.313/.384 this year. But he has been an invaluable asset as a utility player, playing 56 games at third, and getting more than a dozen starts at second base and in the outfield.
