The team released a statement saying they are “aware of the matter” and that he has “taken responsibility in a conscientious manner.”

He will serve his suspension during the first two games of the season against Denver and Minnesota.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and made a regrettable mistake,” Monroe said in a statement. “I apologize to my family, the Pistons organization, myteammates and fans. I will learn from this and continure mywork to be a positive influence in the community.”

Monroe inked a qualifying deal with Detroit last Friday, giving the restricted free agent the ability to walk away from the team after the conclusion of the upcoming season.
