Students in the Oakland Zoo — as the student section at Petersen Events Center is called — threw fake money bearing Pitino’s face before the Panthers’ ACC game against the Cardinals on Wednesday. It was an obvious jab at the program, which is trying to outrun allegations a former basketball assistant paid escorts to have sex with recruits.

The bills also were a reminder of Pitino’s “affair” in 2003 with a former car model. That was part of the ammo background info the students were provided as they arrived at their seats.
