If you’re planning on popping the question in the air, look no further than this successful attempt.
The gentleman, known on Twitter as roloman381, explained: “I was married for 30 years and so was my partner Alison. We both lost our respective partners to cancer a few years ago. I never ever for one minute thought I would ever find love again or find a soul partner. Alison would you please join me up here.”
As Alison emerges from a window seat the passengers begin to whoop and cheer.
The prospective groom then proceeds to read out an original poem that goes: “Alison, life is full of adventure since I met you and with you in my life I never feel blue, for you are the reason that I feel alive to the ends the earth I would drive.
“With you by my side and hand in hand and at the alter I wish to stand take my hand please say yes because I bet you would never guess, for I wish to spend the rest of my life loving and caring for you as my wife, now there is no stronger feeling for me as I get down now on one knee.”
The flight passengers begin to clap, as he goes on to say: “Please take my hand and accept this ring as it is from the heart and such a special thing. In front of this lovely crowd, captain and crew, this is all I ever wanted to do so please say yes and fulfil my dream, and from the rooftops I will scream.”
The captive audience begin to clap and cheer again as he asked: “Will you say yes?” Although her response is inaudible, it would appear from the reactions of everyone that Alison gave a resounding yes. As the camera pans away, a woman in the front row can be seen wiping the tears out of her eyes.
Flight comparison website Cheapflights.co.uk previously compiled a list of top tips on how to pull of the perfect in-air proposal.
They suggest getting creative, “From having passengers hold up “Will You Marry Me?” signs on a Spirit Airlines flight to professing your love over the intercom to playing a video on the seatbacks on a jetBlue flight and then celebrating with cake pops and Champagne, the possibilities – provided the airline and your beloved are game – are seemingly endless.”
Like our loved up passenger, they also suggest asking for help from the airline. “There are many examples of flight crew going above and beyond, and what better way to switch up a routine flight than with a fun proposal? Call the airlines’ call center or public relations team to discuss the proposal and what you would like to do. The airline will contact the flight services manager and flight crew to help facilitate an in-flight proposal.”
In a less romantic, yet amusing turn, during the video a man can be seen exiting the bathroom mid-speech. He is asked to halt by a flight attendant, who then seemingly asks where his seat is. When he indicates towards the poetic passenger, he appears to politely say he will wait in the bathroom until they’re done.
