But Sprint Cup qualifies on Friday, when a shower or thunderstorm is forecast. Good thing is, precipitation should clear out in time for qualifying at 4:45 p.m. ET.
Sunday could be the real problem. Thunderstorms are expected to arrive about noon ET, and racing might not get under way until about 3. So the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 could end up pushing daylight.
Rain was a threat the past two weekends at Charlotte, where activities around the Sprint All-Star Race were canceled and the race was run late to get the track dry. The Coca-Cola 600 went out without a hitch, although weather watchers warned a wet evening was possible.
Looks like another busy weekend for track-drying machines.
