You read that right: The Pokémon Company is teaming up with the International Space Station to bring a special stream from onboard the station. Trainers will be able to see the Earth and stars as the day shifts to January 1, 2021, in Japan.

It’s also being teased that Pokémon will appear during the stream. What that means exactly is anyone’s guess, but it’s likely that the stream will have overlays of certain Pokémon that will appear using augmented reality (AR).

The official Pokémon International account revealed on December 26 that trainers will be able to watch the stream on New Year’s Eve.

“Mark your calendars, Trainers: on December 31st, the International Space Station will have a special stream, and some Pokémon are planning to make an appearance!” the official account’s tweet reads. “You’ll have to tune in to find out who…”

POKEMON SPACE STATION STREAM START TIME

According to the official Japanese Pokémon account, the Kibo Space Module’s The Space Sunrise Live stream will begin at 11:45 p.m. JST. That means the stream will start around 9:45 a.m. ET on New Year’s Eve.

WHERE TO WATCH POKEMON SPACE STATION STREAM ONLINE

The official accounts haven’t yet revealed where you can actually watch this special Pokémon stream. But, if you like or retweet the original Japanese tweet, you will receive a reply when there’s 10 minutes left before the start of the broadcast. You can also set a reminder through the official event page on Twitter.

In the meantime, you can follow the official Japanese Pokémon social media accounts to get the latest updates on when the stream will go live.

We also recommend following Serebii on Twitter, as they announced that they will post where the stream will be held once it goes live. It’s also just a great account for all things Pokémon.

The official Pokémon YouTube account is also a smart place to check, to see if the special New Year’s Eve stream will be hosted there.

It should be noted that there is no promise of a game announcement or anything of that sort with this stream. It’s just a showcase streamed from space (happens all the time) and Pokémon fans should treat it as such.

For actual information, Pokémon fans will likely have to wait until February when the 2021 Pokémon Day festivities begin.
