It was one of two guns police said they found in addition to the .45-caliber handgun Cardell Hayes allegedly used to kill Smith following a three-car crash April 9, according to NOLA.com. Police did not say whether the gun found in Smith’s Mercedes-Benz SUV belonged to him or a passenger.

Police said they also found a fully loaded revolver in Hayes’ Hummer H2.
Ballistics testing showed no evidence the 9 mm or the revolver had been fired, according to police, but shell casings recovered from the scene did match the .45-caliber gun police believe Hayes used in the incident.
The guns were discovered after a search warrant was executed Tuesday morning.
