Shiesty—legal name Lontrell Williams—shared the new music news via Instagram on Thursday to thank his supporters during “these hard times.” The post has over 89,000 likes and 2,000 comments. The music artist also has 3.4 million followers on Instagram.

“I WISH I COULD BE COMINGG HOME TO YALL TODAY BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WAYYYY WORSE,” written in a screenshot of an email, “I WILL BE BACK SOONER THAN YALL THINK ! BUT MEANTIME NEW MUSIC DROPPING NEXT WEEK.”

Many supportive fans flood his comment section with “Free Pooh,” “Free You” and “Free Shiesty.”

Shiesty will be in prison for five years and three months after pleading guilty to one count gun conspiracy in a plea deal. He was involved in an incident that occurred in Florida which led to one man being shot in October 2020.

“Listen, nobody’s happy to go to prison, but he was happy the judge listened to our argument, and the judge received the argument well,” the rapper’s defense lawyer, Bradford Cohen told Rolling Stone. “He was satisfied with the outcome. We’re happy with the decision of the court.”

Shiesty hails from Memphis, Tennessee and his rise to fame started in 2020. He was signed by Gucci Mane’s record label, The New 1017 where he released his first mixtape, Shiesty Season. It did very well on the Billboard 200 chart, rising all the way to the third spot.

Currently, Shiesty has over 6 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Some of his popular songs include “Back In Blood” featuring Lil Durk with over 200 million streams, “SUVs (Black on Black)” racking up 88 million streams and “Neighbors” featuring BIG30 with 46 million streams.

“You never know what I’m going to say next. Everybody has their own path,” he said via his official website, “I just made the best of what I had. I’m unpredictable and unexpected.”

He is in the running for the Top New Artist award at this year’s Billboard Music Awards set to air on May 15.

He wrote in the caption of the Instagram post announcing the nomination, “I can only remember Dreaming of s**t like this.Thanks to all my fans, supporters, and love ones…Da Biggest!!!”

Shiesty isn’t the only rapper in trouble with the law of late. A$AP Rocky—born Rakim Mayers—was arrested Wednesday in connection to a shooting that happened in November 2021, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The rapper has since been released from jail after his bond was posted. Bail was $550,000.
