Obama spoke to a major union rally at Boston Park Plaza Hotel and started his speech off by saying, “Brady is free.”

He eventually started discussing his main topic — unions — and worked in a clever line about the Patriots quarterback.
“If I was looking for a job that would help me support my family, I’d join a union,” he said, via NECN. “Even Tom Brady is glad he belongs to a union. They had his back. So you know if Brady needs a union, we definitely need unions.”
Before Obama gave his speech, Massachusetts senator Ed Markey also talked about Brady, because it’s easy to get applause in Boston by mentioning the city’s favorite quarterback.
Brady’s union is the NFL Players Association and its members were happy when the Patriots quarterback won his appeal against the NFL. Brady was suspended four games by the league for his supposed role in Deflategate, but a federal judge determined that punishment didn’t make sense and the suspension was lifted.
