TEN YEARS LATER

In the 10 years of Slobodan Milosevic’s Balkans rule, 200,000 people were killed in three wars. Rod Nordland and Roy Gutman covered the story from the start. Last week both were in the region for Milosevic’s trip to The Hague. “The chain of accountability has finally reached the top,” says Gutman. “After 10 years you can’t help feeling relief–and a little elation.” (Page 40)

PAYING TO PLAY

Last weekend, L.A. correspondent John Horn took his 1-year-old son to his very first baseball game. But not at nearby Dodger Stadium. Horn instead drove 40 miles to a minor-league game of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. “Seats there are only $8,” he says. “That barely gets you parking at Dodger Stadium.” As Horn reports this week, baseball isn’t America’s only high-priced pastime.
