Like every week, I’ll reference UFCollective projections in parsing the factors affecting how the DK crowd may approach players and pricing.

Week 9 Rankings:Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker

NFL Week 9 DFS Ownership: Quarterback

Cam Newton ($6,600) against the Bucs is locked in for QB chalk since, you know, the Bucs. … Drew Brees ($6,100) and Jared Goff ($6,000) should split a very popular ticket with that Vegas over-under in the Superdome hitting the 60s.

The field will likely shy away from Deshaun Watson ($6,300) given his recent lack of rushing volume. Swinging on him as a contrarian requires a bet on health and competitive game flow, but it’s still feasible.

NFL Week 9 DFS Ownership: Running Back

Todd Gurley ($9,500) and Alvin Kamara ($7,300) should bring yet more chalk to New Orleans on Sunday afternoon, though UFCollective tabs Gurley as the fave to break 30 percent. … Kareem Hunt ($7,700) should also get plenty of run with the Browns written off as an crapshow this week and, thus, projected positive game script.

Adrian Peterson ($6,000) nabs 25-plus touches when his team avoids getting routed and gets a modest uptick on his historical passing-game opportunity. However, his low receiving volume relative to the premium backs probably gets him faded to single-digit shares in GPPs, even with Chris Thompson out and AP coming off a week converting a red-zone receiving TD.

NFL Week 9 DFS Ownership: Wide Receiver

The WR trades aren’t factored into DK pricing, and this makes Courtland Sutton ($3,900) a prime candidate for cheap chalk. … Emmanuel Sanders ($6,400) rode in with the Broncos lead in air yards and still pull in more work during the first week without Demaryius Thomas ($4,500). This could spring Manny to medium ownership and a far lower rate for Thomas.

Sammy Watkins ($4,900) comes off a smash week, and if Tyreek Hill’s injury holds him back, Watkins will be destined for chalk. An active Hill would likely cap Watkins short of chalk as heavy-favorite KC visits Cleveland. … Kenny Golladay ($5,500) and Marvin Jones ($5,300) don’t get the same juice from Golden Tate’s absence, as Minny’s feared D comes off a low-volume pass week against the Saints.

NFL Week 9 DFS Ownership: Tight End

Travis Kelce ($6,600) has rewarded people for paying up enough this season that they’ll do it again, especially with how badly the more frugal plays bombed out last week. …  Greg Olsen ($4,700) should join plenty of Cam stacks as Carolina gets the Bucs bump.

Austin Hooper ($3,800) saw high target volume heading into the Falcons bye, though he may still go contrarian with Atlanta playing an outdoor game. That tends to draw a Falcons fade.
