GameStop is one of the only stores selling the new PS5 console in-store as opposed to online-only, and considering the experience that some gamers have had trying to buy the PS5 online, it’s no surprise that some are trying an alternative method.

The PS5 is clearly in high demand—it has sold out at its presale, launch day, and later restocks almost instantly.

While the elusive PS5 may be difficult to purchase due to the limited stock and high demand, some gamers think the consoles are being bought out online by bots, who then sell the consoles for a profit.

One way to get around this is to try and purchase the console in person in store—even if it means missing out on a turkey dinner. It looks like gamers are doing just that, with photos of lines outside of GameStop stores across the U.S. being shared on social media, with reports of some having camped out since Wednesday.

However, some campers may miss out on getting the console despite committing to waiting overnight. GameStop has limited stock of the PS5, with some stores selling just two consoles. Nevertheless, PlayStation fans are trying their luck.

Eugene Daniel shared photos of people camped out on mattresses outside a GameStop in Norfolk, Virginia, and said that they had been there since 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

Matt Austin shared an image of people sitting outside a GameStop in Hartford, Connecticut.

Twitter user Zandriah shared a photo of a line and said: “Please pray that I get this PS5 yall.”

Christie Ileto shared a photo of a line in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and said that the man who was first in line had been waiting since Wednesday afternoon.

Twitter user Almendra said: “I came to GameStop just [because] I was curious if anyone was in line for the PS5 Black Friday launch… First guy has been here since Wednesday 3 p.m.”

Josh Kristianto shared an image from Salinas, California, and said: “About 8 gamers are already standing in line at GameStop in Salinas to buy a new PS5 or Xbox, which of course, are super hot items right now this holiday season.

“Get this: The GameStop opens at 7 a.m. tomorrow. It’s gonna be a long night for them! I get it though, I’m also a gamer.”

Mark Neitro shared a photo of a mother and son camping in a tent in Thornton, Colorado, which they had been doing since 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

These campers are willing to commit not only the time but the extra money in the hopes of getting the new PlayStation. Although the console typically costs $499, GameStop is selling PS5 bundles for $835.99, which comes with an extra controller, a camera, Spider-Man, and Demon’s Souls.
